about

This is what musicians call a Rewrite. I first sang the song and recorded it with my digital recorder, then I gave that to a musician named Nate Butler, who put together a wonderful rendition with his multi channel recording software Sibelius, then that song sat for over 4 years until I presented it at the Songwriters Workshop. Geoff Thurman decided that he wanted to help me make a viable demo from the song, and Waalah! New and improved version of The Day of Heave Ho. Geoff knocked it out in under an hour. I know he practiced this song over a couple weeks, and today, he showed me what a real pro he is. Thanks for everything Geoff Thurman...you are a magnificent musician and a darn good human being. :)) — at At The Studio Music Production.

The Day Of Heave Ho Joe Ozier

Working late-On the docks up past dawn-Clearing up gear as the big storm gets on-Dreading the bone chilling walk up Lighthouse Hill-In my mind-Forty years from today-When I made two treasured lives fade straight away-Drowning in guilt from feasting on my thrill
Now I stand to greet wretched winds-A cold daunting task that leads to my end-The moment comes to face my final will-Looking back on the course of my life-The least of the good bringing most of the strife-I have to swallow down this bitter pill
But hell no-I don’t want to go-To the land of the dead-On the Day of Heave Ho-Things that I have to let go-On the Day of Heave Ho
The winds start to blow-And the cradle soon rocks-The hag from the sea spins her web while she stalks-Her sinister cackle sounds the fear she brings-It’s all about me and the villain I’ve been-The deeds I have done and atoning for sin-If I don’t go now she will torment me time and again
So hell no-I don’t want to go-To the land of the dead-On the Day of Heave Ho-Things that I have to let go-On the Day of Heave Ho
Now I yearn for those simpler days-The sweetness of love free from my shady ways-I see my soul as fodder for the Krill-The taste of my life is a
bittersweet tear-I know in my heart I’m not coming back here-The man I would be if only I didn’t kill
So hell no-I don’t want to go-To the land of the dead-On the Day of Heave Ho-Things that I have to let go-On the Day of Heave Ho
